Location: St Fergus Gas Terminal
Working Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday
Rate: Competitive rate per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Self-employed (CIS) or PAYE, long-term opportunity

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned and proficient site-based Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial acumen to support our team on delivering critical projects at the gas terminal in St Fergus. We are ideally looking for someone who lives in the local area and can commute to the Terminal on a day-to-day basis.

The works we have are a diverse spread of civil and mechanical projects and the role will require you to work across the full spectrum of commercial activities. With affiliation to the IES commercial function based in Manchester, the position offers long-term stability with potential for growth into regional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project managers, planners, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely, on-budget project completion
  • Assist in pre-contract activities including pricing of new works
  • Conduct valuations and manage day-to-day project financials
  • Undertake site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Prepare and review cost and value reports and margin analysis for projects on a weekly basis, summarise and present to the project team
  • Track project costs, identifying any potential overruns, risks or savings
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, payment applications, invoices and conduct final accounts
  • Manage change control in accordance with the contract, collate evidence to support change event applications and negotiate final outcomes
  • Evaluate and process subcontractor payment applications including change events
  • Track and report on cash flow, monitor incoming payments and ensure timely payments are received in accordance with contract terms
  • Attend weekly client meetings ensuring the timely completion of actions

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles and techniques
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Civils/Utilities Sector experience is an advantage

Education / Experience: 5 years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or a Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying with at least 2 years experience
