About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced HGV and Excavator Operator to join our Power Networks team working across the Electricity North West (ENW) region. The role involves supporting overhead line and distribution network projects, including pole replacements, transformer installations, network reinforcement works and associated civil excavation activities. You will operate excavators on site and be responsible for transporting your machine between locations using a beavertail vehicle. This position is ideal for someone with proven experience working within the power distribution sector who understands the requirements of live utility environments.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operation

  • Safely operate excavators on utility and power infrastructure projects.
  • Carry out excavations for pole replacements, transformer installations and associated network works.
  • Work in accordance with site-specific RAMS and permit systems.
  • Conduct daily plant checks and report defects promptly.
  • Ensure all excavation activities are completed safely and efficiently.

Transport and Logistics

  • Transport excavators and equipment to and from site using a beavertail vehicle.
  • Ensure vehicle and plant are operated in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and maintain transport records.
  • Support loading and unloading activities safely.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping on site and in the yard.
  • Work in accordance with utility industry standards and client requirements.
  • Support a positive safety culture across all projects.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience working on power line or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with pole replacement and transformer installation works.
  • HGV Class 2 Licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC.
  • NPORS or CPCS Excavator Operator certification.
  • CSCS or CSR Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the ENW network area.
  • Utility or power distribution experience.
  • EUSR registration.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Street Works (NRSWA) qualification.
