Staff Engineer - Backend, SRE (LatAm)

Our client is hiring a Staff Engineer to join their team!

This role will be central to building the foundation for SRE practices while also functioning as a strong backend software engineer. You'll work with Kubernetes, Postgres, and AWS not only managing infrastructure, but also building tools that enable engineers to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performing applications.

Because the team is lean, you'll spend about 70-80% on backend feature development and 2030% on DevOps/SRE work.

• Staff-level engineer

• 2+ years in DevOps with Kubernetes, Terraform, or IaC tools

• 70-80% backend engineering, 20-30% DevOps/SRE

Hard Skills

• Backend Python/Django expertise

• 5+ years professional experience with containers (Docker, etc.)
• 5+ years professional experience with AWS

• Strong RDBMS knowledge (Postgres preferred)

• Monitoring (Prometheus, Loki, DataDog, Sentry, etc.)

• CI/CD pipelines, developer environments, alerting, on-call support

Soft Skills

• Strong work ethic, ownership mentality

• Product intuition and user empathy

Responsibilities

• Maintain AWS infrastructure

• Develop scalable backend features (Python/Django required)

• Build and maintain API/SFTP integrations

• Manage Postgres DB performance (indexes, sharding, partitioning)

• CI/CD management and developer environment setup

• On-call support and issue triage
