We're hiring a senior DBA to take full ownership of our production databases, keeping them reliable, fast, and ready to scale as we grow.

This role calls for real agency. You'll spot issues before they escalate, make well-reasoned calls, and see them through to completion. You treat production data with care, flag risks early, and own the results of your work.

Tech Stack:

Required: PostgreSQL (Crunchy Bridge), MySQL (PlanetScale)
Nice-to-have: CockroachDB, SingleStore and Tinybird.

What you'll own

• Database health end to end: monitoring, incident response, and recovery readiness.
• Performance tuning across queries, indexes, schemas, and resource consumption.
• Safe planning and execution of migrations, backfills, and data fixes.
• Data consistency across primary databases, replicas, and analytics pipelines.
• Backup verification, restore testing, and ongoing improvements to security and access controls.
• Close collaboration with engineers on database design, plus automation of repetitive operational tasks.
• Performance and load testing in dedicated environments to surface bottlenecks, confirm scalability, and evaluate which database technologies best fit each workload.

What you bring

• Substantial hands-on experience owning production databases.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and strong SQL fluency.
• Working knowledge of distributed databases, replication, and both transactional and analytical workloads.
• A proven record of resolving incidents and shipping database changes safely.
• A strong sense of ownership, sharp attention to detail, and clear, direct communication.
• Comfort digging into application code and building your own operational tooling.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with any of our specific platforms (you don't need to know them all).
• Experience leading a team or mentoring engineers.
