Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Finance Director to oversee the financial management and direction of our organisation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations of both the licence holding company and the school entity, providing strategic financial planning, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Finance Director will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Group CFO and Group Finance Director.
Initially the role will be focused on monthly reporting and data analysis whilst also preparing for handover and transition from the current post holder who will be in place until Sept 2026.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve the school and company's goals and objectives
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior management and the executive committee
- Preparation of a detailed annual budget and monitoring financial performance against budget
- Manage cash flow and financial risk to ensure financial stability and healthy cash flow
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and auditors
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including tax and accounting standards
- Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance and support for their professional development
- Continuously monitor and improve financial systems and processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide financial insight and analysis for new business opportunities and strategic initiatives. Advise on key financial issues affecting operations and profitability
- Collaborate with other departments, including admissions and operations, to ensure financial alignment and support business growth
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures
- Timely preparation and presentation of financial/management reports (to meet regulatory requirements and compliance with the company and school deadlines) for managements review on a regular basis. Advise management of variances if any and implement appropriate action.
- Sole responsibility for month end, year end and annual audit closing procedures
- Ensuring timely submission for all Account & Finance Reports including Corporate Income Tax Returns.
- Ensuring corporate taxation and legal compliance is adhered to and being the key liaison with tax authorities and external auditors for statutory compliance
- Managing and implementing a fixed asset and inventory control system
- Oversee procurement system and software from a budgeting perspective
- Any other relevant assignment as directed by immediate superior and top management.
- Supervising a team of Finance & Accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or other advanced degree would be desirable
- Accounting Licence
- Experience in the education sector would be an advantage 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
- Deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing a finance team and developing talent
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
- High degree of integrity, ethics, and professionalism
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, staff or members of the community. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Demonstrated ability to compose and produce clear coherent professional documents
