Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi

A fast-growing and innovative technology firm is looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to contribute to the development of a next-generation AI-driven data processing and analytics platform. This role is suited for a backend specialist with strong expertise in distributed systems and large-scale data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement key backend components for a high-performance AI platform, including:

• Data lakehouse solutions leveraging modern open-source frameworks such as Clickhouse, Trino, and Spark.
• Scalable distributed data processing pipelines (triggers, workers, DAGs).
• Advanced data governance models with role-based access control.
• Backend architecture for data analysis tools such as search and interactive dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sophisticated AI-powered applications.
• Maintain best practices for security, compliance, and system reliability.

Skills & Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and core algorithms.
• 5+ years of experience in Java, focusing on API development and distributed architecture.
• Proven ability to design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant backend services.
• Experience working on search, recommendation engines, or analytical systems.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, etc.).
• Knowledge of SQL and data processing techniques.
• Basic familiarity with Python is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with data engineering tools (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar).
• Knowledge of Clickhouse for handling OLAP workloads.
• Ability to navigate and troubleshoot frontend code if needed (React, TypeScript).
• Interest in AI technologies and machine learning frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive problem-solving approach.
