Job Description: Software Engineer (Backend & Infrastructure)

Our client is seeking a versatile Backend & Infrastructure Software Engineer to take full ownership of the systems powering their platform. Operating within a small, agile team, this is a true "build it and run it" role where the engineer owns everything from backend APIs and databases to the heavy GPU pipelines driving the platform's core AI features.

Role Overview

The Backend & Infrastructure Software Engineer will architect, scale, and maintain the server-side infrastructure supporting a high-throughput, AI-driven product. Responsibilities include building robust APIs, managing data pipelines, orchestrating containerized environments, and tightly controlling GPU infrastructure costs and inference latency. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-ownership environment where speed, reliability, and cost-efficiency intersect.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end backend architecture, including API design, data management, and cloud infrastructure.
• Build, deploy, and maintain scalable containerized environments using Docker as an everyday workflow.
• Manage and optimize GPU infrastructure and inference workloads, specifically leveraging platforms like RunPod to maximize performance while tightly controlling operational costs.
• Integrate AI workflows and maintain robust data pipelines capable of handling high-volume, NSFW image and video generation.
• Leverage advanced AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code) to accelerate development velocity while maintaining critical code review and quality standards.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and systems scripting.
• Solid hands-on experience with Google Cloud, Firebase, and relational or non-relational SQL databases.
• Deep operational experience with Docker, including building, running, and maintaining containers daily.
• Practical background managing GPU infrastructure, inference workloads, and cost tracking on providers like RunPod.
• High AI fluency and practical experience using tools like Claude Code to ship code quickly while exercising sound technical judgment.
• Must be physically based in Cyprus (candidates outside the country cannot be considered).
• Professional comfort building, running, and scaling backend pipelines that generate NSFW imagery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep expertise in AI pipelines—specifically ComfyUI—and large-scale image or video generation workflows.
• Demonstrated experience tuning and optimizing AI model inference for cost reduction and low latency.
