We are seeking a Service and Commissioning Engineer to join our Service and Commissioning Team. This role is based in our facilities near Cambridge, UK, with travel across the UK and overseas.

We are looking for a driven individual with experience in service and commissioning, ideally in automated equipment, with a suitable understanding of mechanical, electrical and control engineering, a good attitude, and a keen willingness to learn.

What You'll Do

As a Service and Commissioning Engineer at Huxley Bertram, you will be responsible for:

  • Responding to customer callouts and resolving technical issues (mechanical, electrical, and control)
  • Assisting with the installation and commissioning of equipment at client sites
  • Offering training and support to customers
  • Repairing, testing, and maintaining machinery
  • Providing regular reports and feedback to customers on service requests
  • Liaising with technical sales engineers to develop customer relationships and provide after-sales support
  • Evaluating equipment performance and suggesting improvements
  • Travelling nationally and internationally to meet client requirements

You will also be part of a collaborative team, working alongside other engineers, technicians, and the clients, to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

This role is part of the Service and Commissioning Team, and reports to the Service and Commissioning Supervisor. 

Who You Are

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • An HND/HNC/City & Guilds in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (or similar)
  • Proven experience working with mechanical and electrical industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of automation and product handling systems
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Hands-on skills in electrical wiring and mechanical fitting
  • PLC programming and fault-finding experience (advantageous)
  • Experience with servo-hydraulic systems (advantageous)
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, sometimes at short notice
  • A full UK driving licence

  • Competitive Salary: £40,000 - £55,000, depending on experience, plus overtime, plus overnight allowance when away on business, plus a discretionary annual bonus.
  • Flexible Work Hours: 40-hour work week (Mon-Fri) with core hours from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Location:

The role will be based at our headquarters in Waterbeach and Cottenham, near Cambridge, UK, with travel to client sites across the UK and internationally. Travel is approximately one third of the time, usually up to a week at a time, sometimes up to a fortnight.
