About The Role:
As the operational leader of the organisation, the COO will ensure alignment across departments, optimise resources, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and drive the successful execution of the Company's strategic objectives. This role is particularly critical in supporting the operational and organisational needs of a growing company. This role requires a highly experienced leader with strong people management capabilities, commercial acumen, and a proven track record in the EPCC industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO to develop and execute the Company's strategic goals, business plans, and operational priorities.
- Translate corporate strategy into actionable operational plans across all business units.
- Drive organisational growth, operational efficiency, and sustainable profitability.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on operational matters.
2. Operational Management
- Oversee end-to-end operations across Projects, Contracts, and Engineering functions.
- Ensure all departments operate effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with the Company's objectives.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive accountability and performance.
- Optimise workflows, systems, and resource allocation to improve productivity and project delivery.
- Ensure seamless coordination and collaboration across all operational departments.
3. Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop Heads of Department (HODs) across the respective functions.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and results-oriented culture.
- Build leadership capability within the organisation through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
- Drive employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.
- Support organisational change initiatives and promote effective change management practices.
4. Project & Business Performance Oversight
- Monitor project execution, delivery timelines, cost control, quality, and profitability across projects.
- Ensure effective risk management, issue resolution, and decision-making across operational functions.
- Oversee contract governance, compliance, and commercial risk management.
- Ensure engineering excellence, innovation, and adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Review operational performance regularly and implement corrective actions where necessary.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a key liaison between the CEO and operational departments.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities.
- Represent the Company in operational, commercial, and industry-related engagements as required.
6. Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Proactively identify, assess, and highlight operational, commercial, contractual, regulatory, and project-related risks to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to minimise exposure and avoid potential legal disputes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and Company policies.
- Strengthen operational governance, controls, and risk management frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 8 years in senior management or executive roles.
- Proven experience within the EPCC industry is mandatory.
- Strong track record in overseeing large-scale and/or commercial & industrial (C&I) projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams across project management, engineering, and contracts functions.
- Strong understanding of solar project lifecycle, engineering principles, contract management, and operational best practices.
Remuneration Package:
MYR 20,000 - MYR 25,000
