Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced in-house counsel to join our dynamic team. This position will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to all departments within the company, particularly in relation to contracts, disputes, and corporate matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and support to all departments within the company, including but not limited to:

  • Contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Reviewing and interpreting construction contracts
  • Advising on legal compliance and risk management
  • Drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements, memorandums of understanding, settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and heads of agreement
  • Handling adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
  • Attending to legal notices and drafting replies to contractual letters from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Liaising with external counsel on legal issues, such as adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
  • Reviewing and revising company policies and procedures
  • Proactively identify and address legal risks
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience as in-house counsel or in a similar role within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of construction law, laws relating to conveyancing & contracts and corporate law
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
