Job Openings Platform Engineer - Hybrid Porto

About the job Platform Engineer - Hybrid Porto

Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/Terraform) - Hybrid Porto (2 Office Visits/Month)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a well-established international software company known for delivering modern, cloud-native solutions across education, financial services, gaming, insurance, telecoms, and public sector clients. This organization combines deep business domain expertise with world-class engineering talent to solve real-world problems at scale. With a flat management structure and a genuinely relaxed yet professional culture, teams here work on dynamic, high-impact projects while being actively supported through a Continuous Learning Programme. This is a senior-level opportunity for a Platform Engineer who wants to shape how engineering teams build and ship software — not just maintain infrastructure.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll join teams building self-service platform capabilities on top of cloud-native technologies, primarily Kubernetes, for large organisations. Your role is to design and build complex platforms, then abstract that complexity away so other engineering teams can consume platform capabilities easily and independently. Teams work in an agile setup with close cross-team interaction, enabling engineering squads to deliver business functionality faster. As a senior member, you'll also mentor and guide junior platform engineers as they grow.
This is a hybrid role based in Porto, with office visits twice a month.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • 3+ years of experience building self-service platforms and abstractions consumed by other engineering teams
  • 4+ years as a software engineer (Java, JavaScript, Golang, or Python)
  • 4+ years working with a public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • 4+ years of experience with containerization and container platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes GitOps practices using ArgoCD or Flux, and Helm or Kustomize
  • Experience implementing monitoring/observability solutions (logging, metrics, distributed tracing) using tools such as Loki, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or X-Ray
  • Strong DevOps background with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar)
  • Proven track record building complex, production-grade platforms delivered as self-service products
  • Expert-level knowledge of building platform APIs, automation, system-level tooling, and/or internal developer platforms
  • Expert-level knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or Crossplane)
  • Expert-level knowledge of container orchestration principles and Kubernetes
  • Expert-level knowledge of public cloud best practices (Well-Architected Frameworks)
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, service architectures, and cloud-native design trade-offs
  • [Required language(s) not specified in source — please confirm]

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification
  • Public cloud certification (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in a formal or informal capacity

Compensation: €2,000 – €3,000/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
