About the job Content Modeller (Content Domain) - Contentful
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join the Content Domain team of a major retail organisation as a Senior Content Modeller, shaping the next phase of an enterprise-scale headless content platform. This is a deliberately hybrid product-technical role, combining business analysis, structured content modelling and platform enablement. You will design scalable, reusable and API-ready content structures that power web, mobile and emerging digital channels, while helping the organisation move from a centralised content gatekeeper model to a governed, self-service approach. Fully remote within Portugal, with optional access to hubs in Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra.
We know this is a demanding combination of skills, so we are keeping the door deliberately open: if you bring deep content and Contentful expertise without a heavy technical Business Analyst background, we want to hear from you.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
Over the past year the organisation has scaled a headless CMS approach with Contentful at the centre of its content ecosystem, enabling structured content reuse across a growing range of retail digital experiences. As adoption has spread across teams, familiar challenges have emerged: content models that are hard to discover and understand, inconsistent decisions between reuse and new model creation, fragmented documentation, and modelling decisions reviewed too late in delivery cycles. You will work alongside Product, Experience Design, Engineering and Platform teams to address immediate delivery needs — campaigns, experimentation and personalisation initiatives — while contributing to the long-term content operating model, including governance standards, reusable modelling patterns and a discoverable Content Design System/Library inspired by design system principles.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)
- Minimum 6 years' experience as a Business Analyst and/or Content Modeller
- Strong commercial experience with Contentful in enterprise environments (Spaces, Environments, Content Types, publishing workflows, governance)
- Hands-on experience designing scalable content models, content types, references and environments in Contentful, or an equivalent enterprise headless platform (Contentstack, Sanity)
- A product-technical profile bridging Product, UX and Engineering, or equivalent depth in enterprise content design, with the ability to translate editorial needs into robust, reusable data structures
- Deep understanding of downstream content consumption, with hands-on experience across GraphQL, REST APIs and JSON schemas
- Contentful GraphQL Content API and API-first architecture experience
- Content operations and governance: defining taxonomy, governance standards, localisation workflows and self-service content systems
- Delivery and enablement: facilitating discovery workshops, producing clear technical documentation for engineers, and optimising editorial workflows
- Solid grasp of content modelling principles: references, taxonomies, localisation, rich text and reusable schemas
- Fluent English (spoken and written) — the working language of the team
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)
- Experience with the Contentful Content Management API for automation and model migrations
- Experience migrating legacy content into structured Contentful models
- Retail or e-commerce domain experience
- Exposure to design systems and aligning UX component libraries with content structures
- Knowledge of personalisation and experimentation platforms
- Portuguese language skills
Compensation: €2,500 – €3,250/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
