Senior DevOps Platform Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes/GitLab) - Hybrid Porto (4 days/week office)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A fast-growing financial services technology company — with over 350 engineers, trusted by 5,000+ organisations, and having reached €100m in revenue in 2025 — is looking for a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer to define, build, and evolve its Internal Developer Platform and enterprise-wide engineering standards. This is a high-impact, senior-level role with real ownership and visibility, reporting directly to the Head of Software Development.

Language: English B2 minimum | Location: Porto (hybrid, 4 days/week in office)

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be the driving force behind the company's Internal Developer Platform (IDP) strategy — owning Golden Paths, engineering guardrails, CI/CD frameworks, and self-service developer capabilities across all product teams. The scope spans Kubernetes-based platform design and operations, observability, DevSecOps practices, and platform governance at enterprise scale. You'll collaborate closely with development, operations, security, and architecture teams, and lead platform adoption initiatives that directly impact engineering productivity across a large, growing organisation.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8–10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Proven track record defining enterprise-wide platform standards, CI/CD frameworks, and developer platform capabilities in large-scale environments
  • Expert-level experience with AWS in enterprise contexts
  • Expert-level experience with GitLab for CI/CD and enterprise automation
  • Expert-level Kubernetes experience — designing, building, and operating clusters at scale
  • Experience building and operating Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) using tools such as Backstage, Crossplane, or similar frameworks
  • Experience designing Golden Paths, shared platform services, and self-service developer capabilities
  • Confirmed proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • Solid experience with observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry — including SLOs/SLAs and incident management practices
  • Confirmed knowledge of DevSecOps — secrets management, vulnerability management, software supply chain security, and policy-as-code
  • Solid background in platform governance, DORA metrics, engineering KPIs, and developer productivity frameworks
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture and microservices at scale
  • Ability to build and maintain reference architectures, platform documentation, and operational procedures
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, security, operations, and architecture teams
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • English B2 or above
  • Based in Portugal, available for hybrid work in Porto, 4 days/week

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with cost efficiency and capacity planning for cloud-native platforms
  • Background in financial services or other regulated, enterprise-scale technology environments
  • Familiarity with policy-as-code tooling (e.g. OPA, Kyverno)
  • Experience leading platform adoption initiatives and driving cultural change around engineering best practices

Compensation: €2,700 – €3,200/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
