Experienced Developer (Node.js) - Portugal Full Remote

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Experienced Node.js Developer to join a technology project within the transportation sector, working as part of a distributed engineering team. This is a backend-focused opportunity for a Mid-level developer who enjoys building scalable services, working with cloud technologies and contributing to reliable, well-structured applications.

You will work remotely from Portugal, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders in an international environment. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Node.js, modern JavaScript/TypeScript development and API-driven architectures.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will contribute to a transportation-focused technology project, developing and maintaining backend services and integrations. The environment involves cloud platforms, modern API architectures and both relational and non-relational data stores.

The position requires approximately 5+ years of professional experience with Node.js, with a clear focus on backend development. You will work with technologies such as Node.js 20+, TypeScript 5.x, REST/HTTP and GraphQL, alongside cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.

The role is Portugal Full Remote, with collaboration across distributed teams and regular communication in English.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• 5+ years of professional experience with Node.js, with a strong backend focus
• Solid hands-on experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• Experience with Node.js 20+ and modern TypeScript development
• Good understanding of HTTP, REST and/or GraphQL APIs
• Experience designing and working with API-driven and distributed architectures
• Professional experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure or GCP
• Strong knowledge of Git and modern version-control practices
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Ability to write clean, maintainable and scalable backend code
• English at B2 level or above
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Experience with multiple cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure and GCP
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
• Experience working in the transportation, mobility or logistics domain
• Experience in international, distributed technology teams
• Familiarity with automated testing and modern software engineering best practices

Compensation: €2550 – €3350/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
