Senior IT Project Manager (Payments / IT Delivery) - Hybrid Porto (2 days/week office) - 6 months

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a leading international payments technology organization operating across multiple continents, supporting hundreds of thousands of merchants and financial institutions. This is a high-impact contract opportunity for a Senior IT Project Manager to drive complex, large-scale initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

You will play a key role in delivering strategic transformation projects, working with cross-functional teams across technology, product, finance, and compliance. The organization values ownership, adaptability, and strong leadership in navigating ambiguity while maintaining high delivery standards.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will manage a portfolio of business and IT transformation projects within a modern payments ecosystem, involving platforms such as cloud-based payment infrastructures (AWS 2023+), API-driven architectures (REST/JSON), and enterprise project governance tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project latest versions).

Projects span across acquiring, transaction processing, compliance, and financial systems integration. You will operate within structured governance frameworks while balancing evolving business priorities and technical dependencies in a multi-stakeholder environment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in IT Project Management delivering multiple concurrent projects
• Proven experience in technology-driven business transformation environments
• Strong knowledge of project delivery methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid models – 2023 standards)
• Experience with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Azure DevOps)
• Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS or Azure – recent versions) and API-based systems
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder ecosystems across business and technical teams
• Strong experience with governance, risk, and dependency management frameworks
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and influencing skills without direct authority
• Ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and delivery under pressure
• Fluent English (mandatory)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Experience in the payments or fintech industry (e.g., acquiring, transaction processing, VAT, FX systems)
• Exposure to regulatory environments (PCI-DSS v4.0, financial compliance frameworks)
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture and integration patterns
• Experience working with distributed international teams
• Certification in PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum Master)
• Additional languages such as Portuguese or French
