About the job Junior AWS Cloud Engineer (AWS/Terraform/Python) – Full Remote Portugal

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A global organization in the automotive sector is looking for a Junior AWS Cloud Engineer to join their cloud infrastructure team. This is a fully remote consulting role based in Portugal — a real opportunity to build hands-on AWS experience in a structured, enterprise-grade environment, working alongside senior engineers on meaningful infrastructure work.

If you're early in your cloud career, have a foundation in AWS and IaC, and want to grow fast in a team that takes infrastructure seriously, this is the right next step.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be contributing to the implementation, automation, and governance of AWS cloud environments within a large-scale international organization. Day-to-day work covers provisioning infrastructure via Terraform, configuring core AWS services, and supporting security and cost efficiency initiatives.

This isn't a support role — you'll be involved in hands-on delivery from day one, including Landing Zone configuration, IAM setup, and scripting automation in Python and Bash. You'll also participate in architecture discussions and cross-team knowledge sharing, which makes this a strong environment to accelerate your technical growth.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of AWS Cloud infrastructure and services: EC2, S3, RDS, VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups
  • Hands-on exposure to Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated provisioning
  • Scripting skills in Python and/or Bash for automation tasks
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub Actions
  • Basic understanding of AWS IAM — roles, policies, and access control principles

Experience & Background

  • 0–3 years of overall IT experience
  • 0–2 years of hands-on AWS experience (labs, personal projects, internships, or professional)
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Languages

  • English: B2 (Upper Intermediate) — mandatory. All project communication is in English.

Location

  • Based in Portugal — mandatory for this engagement.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Any AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent)
  • AWS specialty certifications in Security or Advanced Networking
  • Exposure to AWS Landing Zones or Well-Architected Framework concepts
  • Experience in automotive or other complex, regulated industry environments
  • Familiarity with multi-account AWS environments or enterprise cloud governance patterns

Compensation: €1,500 – €2,000/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
