Executive Director – Granville County Chamber of Commerce, Oxford, NC

Position Overview

The Executive Director is a visible community leader who promotes a healthy economy with good business conditions, supports good government, improves community relations and markets services and programs for Granville County Chamber members.

Key Responsibilities

· Stakeholder Engagement & Sales Leadership — Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with members, prospective members, business leaders, elected officials, sponsors, and community partners; identify opportunities to grow membership, sponsorships, and program participation.

· Strategic Planning — Develop and execute long-term organizational strategies aligned with the Chamber's mission and community needs.

· Board Collaboration — Work closely with the Board of Directors to set priorities, report progress, and ensure effective community relations.

· Community Representation — Serve as the Chamber's primary spokesperson at public events, business openings, government meetings, and regional development discussions.

· Member Recruitment — Expand Chamber membership through outreach, relationship building, and return on investment programming.

· Member Services — Deliver high-quality support, resources, and visibility opportunities for Chamber members.

· Program Development — Create and manage networking events, educational workshops, business expos, and ribbon cuttings.

· Business Advocacy — Promote policies and initiatives that support local business growth and workforce development.

· Partnership Building — Collaborate with city/county officials, economic development organizations, and community groups to advance local projects.

· Community Revitalization — Support downtown development, small business expansion, and local entrepreneurship.

· Financial Management — Oversee budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.

· Staff Leadership — Supervise Chamber staff, interns, and volunteers; foster a positive, productive work environment free of harassment of any type.

· Office Management — Ensure efficient daily operations, technology systems, and customer service.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field preferred.

· 3–5+ years of leadership experience in chambers of commerce, nonprofits, economic development, or business management.

Skills & Competencies

· Strong leadership, relationship-building, and communication skills.

· High level of confidentiality.

· Strategic thinker with strong organizational and financial management abilities.

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.

· Knowledge of Granville County business and government presence.

Work Environment & Schedule

· Standard business hours with evening and weekend events, as required.

· Local travel within Granville County and occasional regional travel for conferences, training, or partner meetings.

· Reports to the Executive Board of the Granville County Chamber of Commerce.
