Chef (Care Home)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our care home team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences while ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained. This role is crucial in enhancing the overall dining experience for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and cook meals in accordance with residents' dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure all meals are presented attractively and served on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Monitor and manage food stock levels, placing orders as necessary while minimizing waste.
• Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring efficiency and teamwork in meal preparation.
• Cater to specific dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and texture-modified diets.
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation to maintain freshness and compliance with food safety standards.
• Engage with residents to gather feedback and enhance meal offerings.
• Follow all health and safety protocols, including food hygiene and allergen awareness.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting.
• Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
• Knowledge of food safety regulations (Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or above preferred).
• Ability to create varied and nutritious menus while accommodating dietary restrictions.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Passion for cooking and providing high-quality meals for residents.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
