Job Summary
The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing product and operational costs, monitoring inventory valuation, performing variance analysis, and supporting budgeting and reporting functions. The role plays a key part in improving cost efficiency and ensuring accurate financial data to support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Analysis & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain detailed product cost sheets.
  • Analyze direct materials, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis (standard vs. actual costs).
  • Provide actionable insights on cost drivers and profitability.
2. Inventory & Cost Control
  • Monitor inventory valuation (FIFO / Weighted Average).
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in conducting physical inventory counts.
  • Review slow-moving and obsolete inventory and recommend provisions.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and analyze variances.
  • Support cost planning initiatives and financial modeling.
4. Month-End Closing
  • Prepare journal entries related to cost and inventory.
  • Assist in monthly financial closing processes.
  • Ensure accuracy of cost allocations and overhead absorption.
5. Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and Philippine accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of cost records and analyses.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis.
  • Experience in manufacturing, retail, or distribution is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
