This role focuses on building custom applications, plugins, and automated workflows to optimize design, detailing, estimation, and manufacturing processes, while driving efficiency and continuous improvement across the organizations digital engineering ecosystem.
Key Accountabilities:
- Identify opportunities to automate manual and repetitive tasks by developing custom applications, scripts, and plugins within Tekla Structures to improve productivity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Design, develop, and maintain software tools that enhance the end-to-end digital workflow across detailing, estimation, production planning, and manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with detailing, engineering, and IT teams to ensure software solutions are aligned with operational requirements and business objectives.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, methodologies, and software solutions relevant to structural engineering, BIM, and rebar manufacturing.
- Maintain, enhance, and upgrade existing in-house applications, ensuring compatibility with current and future versions of Tekla Structures and related platforms.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and user training for developed tools and digital solutions.
- Ensure all developed solutions comply with applicable industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, and internal IT governance protocols.
- Produce clear technical documentation for code, workflows, and processes to support knowledge transfer, scalability, and long-term maintenance.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in digital engineering and automation practices.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Training or certification in Tekla Structures and/or BIM-related software is preferred.
- Experience contributing to R&D, digital transformation, or software optimization projects within engineering, construction, or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proven experience in software development within an engineering, construction, or manufacturing context.
- Strong programming capability in relevant languages and frameworks (e.g., C#, .NET, Python, Tekla Open API).
- Hands-on experience customizing and integrating Tekla Structures is essential.
- Solid understanding of BIM standards, digital modelling principles, and data exchange formats (e.g., IFC, interoperability with other BIM platforms).
- Experience with database integration, automation workflows, or cloud-based applications is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently on R&D initiatives and translate concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of rebar design, detailing, or manufacturing processes is an advantage but not mandatory.
