Job Summary
The Cost Accounting Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting cost control, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial analysis functions. The role ensures accurate product costing, variance analysis, and reporting to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Costing & Analysis
- Prepare and maintain standard cost sheets for products/services.
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Perform variance analysis (standard vs. actual costs) and provide explanations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
2. Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory valuation (FIFO / Weighted Average).
- Monitor stock movements and reconcile inventory accounts.
- Coordinate and supervise periodic physical stock counts.
- Analyze slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and analyze variances.
- Provide cost projections and financial insights to management.
4. Financial Reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and management dashboards.
- Assist in profitability analysis by product, department, or project.
5. Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate cost records and documentation.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Strengthen cost control procedures and internal controls.
6. ERP & Systems Management
- Maintain cost data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ensure proper cost allocation and system accuracy.
- Support system improvements related to costing processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (CMA / CA Inter / ACCA) preferred.
- 3–6 years of experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
