About the job Head of Engineering (Telecommunications)
Setup: Full remote work | Night shift schedule
Experience:
- Over 10 years of experience in engineering consulting, specifically in the telecom and broadband sectors.
- Deep expertise in Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), particularly with High-Level and Low-Level Designs.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in U.S.-based telecom projects within the continental United States.
- Background in using GIS systems such as ARCGIS or 3GIS is preferred.
- Proven leadership within mid-sized or entrepreneurial environments.
Technical Skills:
- Strong command of Excel for financial and project reporting, along with familiarity with project management tools.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD, GIS mapping platforms, and telecom engineering principles.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Leadership and Strategic Competencies:
- Track record of leading organizational change, influencing key stakeholders, and resolving complex challenges.
- Solid understanding of telecom infrastructure, equipment, and engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead the Philippines Engineering team while cultivating a culture centered on innovation, ownership, and accountability.
- Define clear performance standards, offer consistent feedback, conduct evaluations, and recognize top performers to maintain high engagement and motivation.
- Guide and support direct reports through mentoring and opportunities for professional advancement.
Project Execution:
- Lead project initiations and collaborate with stakeholders to align efforts with revenue, profitability, and market expansion objectives.
- Ensure engineering strategies are in sync with corporate goals, financial targets, and customer needs by establishing measurable engineering KPIs.
- Oversee the planning and execution of multiple Outside Plant (OSP) projects, ensuring they are delivered within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Drive process improvements for the engineering team, particularly on the Espeed platform.
Strategic Growth and Innovation:
- Advocate for the adoption of advanced technologies like AI, machine learning, cloud computing, automation, and data analytics to enhance engineering processes and network capabilities.
- Stay informed on industry developments and emerging tech to maintain a competitive advantage and advance network performance, scalability, and innovation.
Operational and Quality Excellence:
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on schedule and within budget, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Develop and enforce standardized quality control procedures across internal teams and external partners.
- Use KPIs, performance metrics, and risk mitigation strategies to improve overall departmental efficiency.
Customer-Centric Solutions and Value Delivery:
- Align engineering initiatives with customer expectations, business goals, and market needs to create impactful, innovative solutions.
- Proactively seek ways to improve customer experience through advanced engineering strategies and emerging technologies that enhance performance, dependability, and value.
