Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Policy & Risk Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies, procedures, and risk assessment frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and business strategy.
- Monitor credit risk exposures across portfolios and enforce risk limits.
- Identify emerging credit risks and recommend mitigation strategies to senior management.
2. Credit Approval & Portfolio Oversight
- Oversee the evaluation, approval, and monitoring of credit applications, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure portfolio quality through regular reviews, risk grading, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with business units to balance growth objectives with prudent risk management.
3. Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management and the Board on credit strategy, risk appetite, and portfolio performance.
- Prepare reports on credit risk metrics, delinquencies, provisioning, and regulatory compliance.
- Support business planning, product development, and market expansion from a credit perspective.
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team, promoting a high-performance culture.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for the credit function.
- Foster continuous learning, professional certification, and knowledge sharing within the team.
5. Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
- Maintain relationships with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on credit-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other risk and finance functions to optimize decision-making and governance.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in credit, risk management, or banking, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of credit analysis, risk assessment, underwriting, and portfolio management.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
