Role Overview:
The Quality Control Engineer (Tekla) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and constructability of reinforcement detailing deliverables. This role focuses on reviewing Tekla-based 3D models, shop drawings, bending schedules, and related outputs to maintain the highest quality standards across reinforcement detailing activities.
The position plays a critical role in minimizing rework, mitigating project risks, and supporting cost and schedule efficiency across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed quality reviews of reinforcement models, shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and related deliverables generated using Tekla Structures.
- Verify compliance with project specifications, approved IFC/structural drawings, and applicable international and regional codes and standards.
- Identify detailing inconsistencies, clashes, omissions, and constructability concerns; coordinate timely corrections with detailing and engineering teams.
- Ensure detailing outputs are aligned with fabrication, manufacturing, and site installation requirements.
- Implement and continuously improve quality control procedures, checklists, and internal workflows within the detailing function.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, including detailers, structural engineers, project managers, and production teams, to resolve quality-related issues.
- Monitor recurring errors, conduct root-cause analysis, and recommend preventive actions to reduce rework and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation of quality checks, revisions, approvals, and compliance records in accordance with project and internal standards.
- Provide technical feedback, mentoring, and guidance to detailing teams to strengthen overall quality performance.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline
- Relevant professional certifications are an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in reinforcement detailing
- At least 3 years of experience in a quality control or QA/QC role within a reinforcement detailing environment
Technical & Professional Skills:
- Strong expertise in reinforcement detailing within construction, engineering consultancy, or rebar manufacturing environments
- Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures and working knowledge of BIM-based workflows
- Solid understanding of reinforcement detailing principles, fabrication processes, and site execution requirements
- Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, BS 8666, and other applicable regional standards)
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify design, detailing, and compliance issues
- Strong communication and coordination skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
Preferred / Desirable:
- Exposure to rebar manufacturing facilities or active construction site environments
- Experience working in international project environments
