Our client, a Karachi based company, seeks to appoint an experienced and seasoned professional for the following role:
Job Purpose/Mandate
The role involves leading the energy company's commercial function and driving it to new heights in a challenging and competitive environment. We are seeking an exceptional individual who is dynamic, understands environmental and technological advancements, is focused and hands-on, leads from the front, builds strong teams, has excellent follow-up skills, and is goal-driven. This position will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with all other functions across the organization.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Provide strategic direction for the company's growth and profitability by defining the commercial path and developing both long- and short-term strategies and policies for market development and energy product penetration.
Sales Performance Management
- Target Achievement: Ensure all sales targets are met through effective management practices and oversight.
Performance Monitoring
- KPI Establishment: Manage and maintain effective performance across all business units by setting clear KPIs for individual business heads and drilling them down to the lowest team levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Strategic Roadmap Creation: Collaborate with department heads to develop a strategic product roadmap that maintains existing revenue streams while identifying and developing new ones.
Market Expansion
- Channel Development: Ensure the intelligent expansion of sales and distribution channels in both new and existing markets, focusing on transparent identification of opportunities in B2B and B2C roles.
Customer Satisfaction Initiatives
- Customer Journey Strategy: Develop strategies and implement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction at every stage of the customer journey.
Team Building and Development
- High-Performance Culture: Build a commercial team driven by performance with clear-cut goals. Oversee management, career progression, and professional development of team members.
Business Development
- Revenue Generation: Drive new business revenue while managing existing business through strong client relationships. Build relationships with potential large customers to secure new business opportunities
- Operational Efficiency: Ensure efficient delivery of commercial operations, including business development, leasing, and sponsorship activities to identify new commercial opportunities that enhance customer and stakeholder retention
Vendor Relationship Management
- Key Partnerships: Maintain and grow relationships with key vendor partners while developing new vendor partnerships to expand service offerings.
Qualification, Skills and Competencies:
Educational Qualifications
- Minimum 16 years of education, preferably a Master's degree from a renowned and HEC-recognized university or institution/equivalent foreign degree holder institution, in any or a combination of the disciplines of Engineering, Marketing, and Business Administration.
Professional Experience
- Preferably 15 years of professional experience in a large national or multinational organization
- At least 7 years of related functional experience in a similar role at a senior equivalent position or one position below
- Experience in the energy sector and managing ancillary value-added businesses such as non-fuel retail and convenience stores is preferred
Commercial Acumen
- Strong commercial background involving marketing, direct sales, sales and channel management, and contract negotiation (experience in licensing is an added advantage)
- Development of pricing strategies and key account management
Strategic Vision
- Ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for commercial growth aligned with the company's overall strategy
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and forecasting to drive profitability
Leadership and Collaboration
- Skill in building cross-functional relationships and promoting teamwork across departments
- Ability to lead organizational change initiatives effectively and adapt to evolving market conditions
Strategic Thinking
- Ability to identify emerging issues, assess their potential impacts, and convert ideas and insights into practical recommendations for action.
Organizational Skills
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency.
Age
