About the job Manufacturing Engineer
Our client, an engineering consultancy, is seeking applications for the position of Manufacturing Engineer. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Identify areas for improvement and lead efforts to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Design and optimize documentation:
- Process Sheet Documentation: Create and maintain detailed process sheets, maintaining record of all plant floor activity.
- Process Sheet Improvement: Manage and regularly update and revise process sheets to reflect improvements or optimizations made to production methods.
- Bill of Materials (BOMs): Prepare and validate BOMs for various parts/assemblies.
- Routing BOMs: Update and maintain Routing BOMs for all assemblies in the plant detailing order of manufacturing and connecting parts.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design or modify the layout of the plant to accommodate new equipment, products, or production strategies, while minimizing downtime or disruption during the transition:
- Layout Optimization: Analyze and optimize plant layouts to enhance workflow, reduce bottlenecks and improve the overall efficiency of production lines.
- Space Utilization: Ensure optimal use of floor space by strategically placing workstations and storage areas to streamline operations maximizing throughput.
- Conduct time and motion studies to improve workflow and reduce cycle times:
- Cycle Time Measurement: Continuously monitor and analyze cycle times for various production processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Efficiency Analysis: Use data to assess production bottlenecks, identify inefficiencies and suggest changes that can reduce cycle time and increase throughput.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage statistical tools and data analysis techniques (such as time studies and work sampling) to benchmark cycle times and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Operator Cycle Study: Analyze and improve ergonomics, inspection tasks and overall planned activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role, ideally in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques, optimization and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with CAD software and simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
