Job Summary: The Traffic Assistant supports the Traffic Manager in planning and coordinating traffic flow to ensure safety and efficiency. This role involves monitoring traffic patterns, assisting with traffic control, and implementing strategies to minimize congestion and accidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Traffic Monitoring:
- Observe and analyze traffic patterns and conditions using various tools and systems.
- Report on traffic incidents, congestion, and other issues to the Traffic Manager.
- Assist in directing traffic at intersections, construction sites, and events.
- Ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations by providing clear instructions to drivers and pedestrians.
- Respond promptly to traffic accidents and other incidents, providing assistance as needed.
- Coordinate with emergency services and support the implementation of traffic diversion plans.
- Gather data on traffic volumes, speeds, and other metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of traffic management plans.
- Support the planning and execution of roadworks, special events, and other activities affecting traffic.
- Provide information and guidance to the public regarding traffic conditions, road closures, and detours.
- Prepare and distribute traffic advisories and updates through various communication channels.
- Maintain accurate records of traffic incidents, control measures, and other relevant information.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required.
- Work closely with other traffic management personnel, law enforcement, and local authorities.
- Coordinate with transportation agencies and contractors to ensure effective traffic management.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Ensure that traffic control measures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
