Our client, an engineering consultancy, is seeking applications for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components while ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design & Development:
Design, analyze, and test mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for new products or product improvements.
Develop prototypes and collaborate with the prototyping team for testing and evaluation.
Analysis & Optimization:
Perform engineering analysis (e.g., FEA, thermal analysis, stress analysis) to validate designs and improve performance.
Identify design flaws and optimize for manufacturability, durability, and cost reduction.
Collaboration & Communication:
Communicate design specifications and updates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Project Management:
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and progress reports.
Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously improve designs based on feedback from testing, customers, and production teams.
Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for product innovation and process improvements.
Documentation & Reporting:
Document design changes, testing results, and product development processes for future reference.
Maintain design records and ensure all design documentation is up-to-date and compliant.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally in Automotive Sector.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar).
- Experience with FEA tools and simulation software.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
