Staff Python Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

<> Own architectural direction for critical systems and drive long-term technical decisions across multiple teams.

<> Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, distributed applications and high-performance data pipelines for large financial datasets.

<> Work across relational, NoSQL and time-series databases, with a strong focus on performance, resilience, observability and production readiness.

<> Act as a technical partner to engineers, researchers and platform teams, translating complex requirements into clear technical strategies.

<> Raise engineering standards through hands-on mentorship, code reviews, testing practices and technical guidance.

Your Background:

<> 8+ years of professional software development experience, with deep expertise in Python or another object-oriented language and the ability to quickly reach expert-level Python proficiency.

<> Proven experience owning architecture and technical direction for production systems operating at significant scale.

<> Strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or a related quantitative field.

<> Strong understanding of distributed systems, orchestration, performance optimisation and large-scale data processing.

<> Excellent knowledge of Linux, Git and modern software engineering practices, including testing, monitoring and deployment.

Bonus Skills:

<> Experience with the Python scientific stack, including pandas, NumPy, SciPy and scikit-learn.

<> Familiarity with technologies such as Prometheus, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Hadoop or Spark.

<> Experience with LLMs, open-source contributions or engineering standards and communities of practice.
