Position: Senior Lawyer / Senior Legal Counsel

We have a great career opportunity for a Senior Lawyer / Senior Legal Counsel in a Ukrainian Renewable Energy company with head office in Kyiv.

Our Partner owns and operates a large portfolio of renewable energy projects in Ukraine. The Company focuses on the development and construction of large solar and wind projects, with an emphasis on sustainable development and reducing the impact of harmful emissions on the environment. Currently, the total Company's capacity of the solar and wind projects in ownership and operation is 631 MW and expanding its presence in Ukrainian market.

We are currently looking for a responsible, highly motivated and experienced Lawyer who will be involved in the legal support of assets management and the development of the company's renewable energy projects (solar and wind), responsible for Electricity Market regulatory issues and providing legal advice to the management and team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Critical analysis of legislation, explaining the rules and contractual arrangements to colleagues
  • Legal advice on various business matters, with a primarily focus on electricity market regulations
  • Drafting template documents, mostly pertaining to electricity market regulations, sale of electricity and related agreements for operating project and projects in development; implementing best practices and adjusting them to evolving legislation
  • Reviewing and approving routine documents
  • Drafting positions, replies for inquiries, other legal documents
  • Assessing the legal risks in relation to various business situations
  • Running bespoke legal projects, including planning, risk assessment, drafting or reviewing documents, etc.
  • Representing the interests of the employer
  • Preparing presentations for management
  • Communicating with stakeholders, to ensure the team is informed and up to date on regulatory changes.

Qualifications and professional experience:

  • Degree of Master of Laws or similar
  • Outstanding legal research with ability to assess its effect on business
  • Excellent legal writing in Ukrainian and ability to pitch to the team complicated matters in simple terms
  • Proven experience in different areas of legal work pertaining to electricity market
  • Knowledge of the key EU regulations pertaining to electricity market matters
  • Excellent knowledge of work with MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Project management skills
  • English B2/C1

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Electricity Market regulations advise and risk assessment
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Implementing electricity market regulations with assessing the implantation success by the Company
  • Drafting documents, primarily in relation to the sales of the electricity by renewable energy producers at various electricity market segments
  • Supporting projects from regulatory side, preparing, where necessary, the outline and drafting of the regulatory changes the Company wishes to advocate
  • Providing legal advice, carrying out legal risk assessment
  • Supporting GC in different legal-related projects
  • Protecting the interests of the employer before the third parties

  • Understands the need for closure and being self-disciplined enough to deliver
  • Good at negotiating and presenting position to various stakeholders
  • Able and willing to challenge, provide feedback and suggest solutions on improvements
  • Persistent and genuinely interested in the employer and legal work
