We have a great career opportunity for a Commercial & Contract Manager in a leading international renewable energy company with a representative office in Kyiv.
Our Partner initiates, plans and builds wind and solar projects worldwide. The Company is an independent power producer (IPP) that executes large-scale international projects as a general contractor and takes over technical and commercial management as an asset manager. In addition, our Partner has a technological competence and develops AI solutions for renewable energies.
We are currently looking for a skilled professional who will be responsible for the commercial, contractual, and claims management of the EPC Contract throughout the construction phase of the 120 MW Wind Farm Project. The role ensures protection of the Contractor's contractual entitlements, management of subcontractor obligations, administration of project correspondence, preparation and defense of claims, management of variations and change orders, and maintenance of contractual compliance with the EPC Contract.
In particular, the position will be focused on managing risks associated with design interfaces, Employer-supplied equipment, WTG Supplier interfaces, regulatory approvals, schedule impacts, changes in scope, war-related disruptions, Employer's design data, and grid connection interfaces.
Main Responsibilities:
- Administer the EPC Contract and all relevant subcontract agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and notice provisions;
- Manage commercial aspects of project execution, monitor project financial performance against the approved budget, and support cost forecasting;
- Identify variations affecting project scope, prepare and negotiate variation proposals, and maintain a Variation Register;
- Prepare and defend claims for Extension of Time (EOT), additional costs, variations, Employer-caused delays, and delay damages;
- Administer subcontract agreements, ensure their obligations are aligned with the EPC Contract, and monitor subcontractor performance;
- Work closely with the Planning Manager to assess entitlement for EOT, disruption, and acceleration claims;
- Manage project interfaces and mitigate contractual risks involving the Employer, Owner's Engineer, WTG Supplier, Authorities, and Subcontractors;
- Draft formal contractual notices and responses, ensuring proper preservation of contractual rights and correspondence records for future claims;
- Review payment applications, verify entitlement under the contract, track variation values, and prepare commercial reports for management;
- Assist in dispute avoidance and resolution processes, including negotiations with the Employer and coordination with internal and external legal counsel.
Qualifications and professional experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil / Electrical Engineering, Law, Commercial Management, or Business Administration;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EPC, infrastructure, power, or industrial projects;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Contract Manager, Commercial Manager, or Claims Manager role;
- Experience with renewable energy projects (wind farms), substations, transmission lines, and international EPC contracts;
- Strong technical competencies in EPC contract management, FIDIC contract forms (particularly Silver Book), and claims preparation and defense;
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Primavera P6, MS Project, and contract management systems;
- Strong command of Ukrainian and English. German is a plus;
- Experience with lender-funded projects is advantageous.
