About the job SQA Engineer - Automation (Remote - Night Shift | Pakistan | PKR Salary)

Opening: QA Engineer (Automation-First, AI-Native)
Quality Assurance - Automation-Led + Claude Code / Cowork required

About the company we're hiring for Currently:

A leading North American tech startup that provides all-in-one transportation management software to K-12 school districts.

Job Descriptions:
The Company is at a critical inflection point. We are scaling fast, our customers depend on us every single morning their buses roll, and quality is not a phase at the end of a sprint — it's the difference between a district trusting us and a district leaving us. This role exists because we refuse to ship software we haven't proven works.

We're looking for an automation-first QA Engineer who can stand up a test framework from scratch, scale it to cover critical workflows, and ship coverage at a pace traditional QA can't match. You'll still pick up a feature and break it by hand when that's the right call — but the bar here is automation depth, not manual hours.

This role is explicitly AI-native. We expect you to use Claude Code or Cowork every day to design, generate, refactor, and harden tests. Candidates who treat AI tooling as optional, experimental, or "something to try later" are not a fit. Candidates who already drive a real automation workload through Claude Code or Cowork will move to the top of the pile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build automated test frameworks from scratch using Playwright (preferred) — architecture, structure, conventions, and CI integration included. Not just scripts dropped into someone else's scaffolding.
  • Drive automation coverage aggressively across UI, API, and end-to-end flows, keeping suites fast, stable, and trustworthy.
  • Use Claude Code or Cowork as a primary working tool — generating, refactoring, and hardening test scripts; building test data; debugging flakiness; and reviewing diffs — while owning the correctness of what ships.
  • Execute targeted manual testing for new features, edge cases, exploratory scenarios, and releases where automation isn't yet the right tool.
  • Translate product requirements and user stories into clear, comprehensive test plans and automated coverage.
  • Identify, document, and track defects with the detail and reproducibility engineers actually need to fix them quickly.
  • Partner closely with developers and product managers throughout the development cycle — catching issues early, not at the finish line.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and the team's overall approach to quality and AI-assisted QA.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on QA experience with a clear automation tilt — the
majority of your recent work should be automation, not manual.
  • Strong, demonstrable experience with automation tools: Playwright
(preferred), Cypress, or Selenium, and JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred).
  • Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch — you've designed one and can describe the architectural decisions you made, not just maintained one.
  • Extensive, current usage of Claude Code or Cowork (or equivalent agentic coding tools) for real automation work — generating tests, refactoring suites, debugging failures. This is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have. Be ready to talk specifics.
  • Solid grounding in manual testing fundamentals: test case design, exploratory testing, regression, and defect reporting.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a genuine instinct for how things break.
  • Clear communication and the ability to collaborate across engineering and product.
  • A bias toward ownership — you see quality as your responsibility, not someone else's gate to clear.

Nice to Have:

  • Building custom Claude Code commands, hooks, sub-agents, or Cowork skills/plugins for QA workflows.
  • Mobile testing experience.
  • Experience testing complex web applications or SaaS products.
  • API testing tools and approaches (Postman, REST Assured, Playwright API).
  • CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into them (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Git and agile workflows.
  • Background in transportation, logistics, education, or other mission-driven
    software.

Other Details:

Work Mode: Remote - Full Time | Night Shift
Experience: 3+ years
Days: Monday to Friday
Timing: 6pm to 3am (Flexible)

Benefits:

  • OPD
  • Leaves
  • Tax-free salary
