Position: Import Operation Officer

Job Description:

Support the daily operations of the import department, handling documentation, and coordinating with logistics partners, and trade banking processes to ensure smooth and compliant import transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process import documentation including Letters of Credit (LC), Bills of Lading, Packing Lists, Commercial
  • Invoices and Certificates of Origin
  • Liaise with banks for LC issuance, amendments, and discrepancy resolution
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers for timely cargo clearance
  • Track shipment status and update internal stakeholders on arrival schedules
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, tariff classifications, and duty requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and banking correspondence
  • Support reconciliation of trade finance documents against purchase orders

Required Background & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in import operations, trade finance, or logistics (internship experience counts)
  • Basic understanding of trade banking instruments — LC, TT, Bill of Exchange, Bank Guarantees
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and customs clearance procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle document-heavy workflows

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Knowledge of local import regulations and FBR/customs requirements
  • Any short course or certification in trade finance or logistics

  • Good communicator — able to follow up with banks, freight agents, and suppliers
  • Comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
