Hiring Data Engineer (Azure Experience) - KHI | Hybrid

Job Overview:

Seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to support the migration of an existing on prem/Azure VM–hosted SQL Server and SSIS estate into Azure Data Factory (ADF). The role will focus on assessing, redesigning, and migrating SSIS packages into maintainable ADF pipelines, while advising on best practices and delivering the work in phased releases. This is a hands-on delivery role combined with technical guidance and architecture input.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review existing SSIS packages (~115)

• Categorize complexity (simple / medium / complex)

• Design ADF equivalents & Consolidate similar jobs into reusable pipelines where feasible

• Build and deploy in phased batches

• Provide testing support and handover

• Advise on ADF architecture and best practices

• Provide rough effort estimates and resource planning

Requirements:

• Core technical skills required Azure & Data Platform

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory

• Experience designing:

  • Pipelines

  • Parameterized templates

  • Reusable datasets

  • Linked services

  • Triggers & scheduling

  • Monitoring, logging and error handling in ADF

  • CI/CD for ADF (ARM/Bicep/Terraform or Azure DevOps/GitHub) SQL & ETL

  • Deep experience with SQL Server Integration Services

• Proven experience migrating pipelines to ADF

• ETL/ELT design patterns

• Data transformation and ingestion from files (Excel, CSV, flat files) Azure Infrastructure

• Experience working with:

• Azure Virtual Machines o Storage accounts / Blob / ADLS Practical experience expected Candidates should demonstrate experience with:

• Assessing existing pipelines and producing migration approaches

• Lift & shift vs refactor decision making

• Consolidating similar jobs into parameterized pipelines

• Designing modular, reusable ADF components

• Batch delivery / phased releases

• Unit testing & data validation

• Documentation and knowledge transfer

• Providing best practice guidance and mentoring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Must have 2 years or above experience in the Data Engineering field.

• Working Days: Monday - Thursday (Onsite) - Friday WFH
• Work Timings: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM UK Timings
  (12:00 PM to 9:00 PM PKT in Summer & 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM PKT in Winter)
• Work Mode: Karachi - Hybrid
• Location: Tariq Road, Delhi Society - Karachi
• Experience: 2 years or above
