About the Role

The Jira Administrator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Atlassian Jira and Confluence platforms to support Agile project management and governance processes. The role ensures that Jira workflows, automation, permissions, and integrations align with organizational standards and business requirements. Knowledge of Agile Operating Model.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic


  • Collaborate with PMO, IT Governance, and Transformation Office to align Jira configuration with organizational operating models (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Develop Jira usage standards, naming conventions, and taxonomy for portfolios, projects, and epics.
  • Contribute to the Agile transformation roadmap by aligning Jira capabilities with business strategy, resource planning, and reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend Atlassian Marketplace apps, integrations, and automation tools to improve productivity and reporting.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to track Jira adoption, system performance, and project data quality

Operational

  • Manage day-to-day Jira administration, including users, roles, groups, permissions, and issue security schemes.
  • Configure and maintain custom workflows, issue types, fields, screens, and automation rules for various portfolios.
  • Perform regular system audits, backups, upgrades, and performance checks to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Integrate Jira with Azure DevOps, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, and other enterprise tools as required.
  • Develop and maintain custom dashboards and JQL-based reports for project tracking, sprint progress, and KPIs.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, manage add-ons, and coordinate with Atlassian support for escalations
  • Document all configurations, changes, and workflows to maintain a complete system knowledge base

People Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for all Jira and Confluence users across departments.
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one support to enhance user competency and adoption.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and IT Teams to tailor Jira to specific delivery models.
  • Manage access provisioning and role assignments
  • Facilitate collaboration between cross-functional teams by improving visibility through dashboards and reports.

Product/Process Improvement

  • Continuously assess and enhance Jira workflows and automation to simplify project management and approvals.
  • Implement process standardization across teams for portfolio, project, and sprint tracking.
  • Leverage analytics to identify bottlenecks, underutilized features, and process gaps.
  • Support Agile maturity initiatives by aligning Jira configurations with Agile best practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Collaborate with PMO and IT Governance to define SLAs, RACI models, and reporting structures.
  • Pilot and implement new Atlassian modules, APIs, and plug-ins that enhance automation, traceability, and reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement cycles through retrospectives, performance metrics, and user feedback.

- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator | Agile or Scrum Certification (CSM/PSM/SAFe)
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Experience

Preferred: 8+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator
Minimum: At least 3+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator

Governance : Compliance with configuration and workflow standards
User Adoption : Increase in active users, reduction in support tickets
Process Efficiency : Reduction in manual steps through automation
Reporting Quality : Accuracy and timeliness of dashboards and KPIs

Other Details:

  • Experience: 5-8 Years of Experience
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Work Timings: 9:30am - 6:30pm
  • Work Mode: Full Time Onsite in KHI or Islamabad
