Requirements: 

  • 4+ years of dedicated hands-on experience working on the ServiceNow platform in a Developer capacity. 
  • Active ServiceNow Certification is required (e.g., Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery (CIS-Discovery) or Certified Application Developer (CAD)). 
  • Proven, deep technical knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM, with a master-level understanding of Discovery mechanisms. 
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of how the CMDB works, data models, dependency mapping, and data governance. 
  • Solid working knowledge of core ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Catalog) and how they leverage configuration data. 
  • Strong JavaScript skills, understanding of Web Services (REST/SOAP), and familiarity with network protocols/operating systems (Windows, Linux, Cisco, etc.). 
  • Experience with Service Mapping, Event Management, or Service Graph Connectors. 
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist – ITSM (CIS-ITSM). 
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the configuration, mid-server deployment, and maintenance of ServiceNow ITOM Discovery. 
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot Discovery patterns, schedules, and credentials across diverse infrastructure environments (Cloud, On-Prem, Network, OS, etc.). 
  • Diagnose and resolve complex Discovery errors and classification issues to ensure comprehensive infrastructure visibility. 
  • Own the health, integrity, and architecture of the ServiceNow CMDB. 
  • Design and maintain CI relationships, configuration classes, and identification/reconciliation rules (IRR). 
  • Align CMDB practices with the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework to support business services. 
  • Develop high-quality, scalable code using JavaScript, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, and Flow Designer. 
  • Work closely with ITSM stakeholders to ensure CMDB and Discovery data effectively support and automate Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Catalog workflows. 
  • Maintain platform health by adhering to ServiceNow development best practices, minimizing customization where out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality suffices.
