About the job Lead Engineer Position

We are hiring for a client who’s an international freight forwarding and a 3PL service provider. Founded in 1984 in Hong Kong, one of the established providers of supply chain solutions in the Asia Pacific region with branch offices across Mainland China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Core business activities include air freight, ocean freight, and 3PL warehousing services catering to a vast number of vertical markets. They specialize in reliable and tailor-made door-to-door services for clients and global partners covering more than 65+ countries. Thrive to continuously improve ourselves with new developments to bring additional value to clients and network partners.

The client is now building out a new digital team that will play a critical role in our growth strategy and future business success. The first app from this team is a new Freight Booking System web app to be used by all of our customers to make freight bookings. They are looking for a product-and-business-minded engineering lead that will help them build out the team and the products. You will report directly to the directors of the company.

What you would be doing:

- lead the design and development of a Freight Booking System web app from scratch.

- be responsible for all things technical from picking the tech stack to architecting the system to hands-on coding to production deployment

- work closely with the directors to align the product with business objectives. High-level business requirements and documentation of objectives with examples are already in place

- act as a product manager or even a designer depending on your skillset

- attract and hire other digital talents to build out this digital team

- learn from a successful international logistics company on how the world of logistics works

You would be a great fit if you:

- are great at building products from scratch, best if it was done with China-friendly infrastructure

- excel in wearing different hats from being a product manager to hands-on coding to working closely with our business teams

- enjoy having your product used by customers from day one

- have an eye for design aesthetic and usability

- have built and grown cross-functional teams

- are known for building processes and tools to increase your teams' productivity

- have made non-trivial decisions either from a technical, business, or product perspective

- can communicate effectively and concisely with non-technical members of the team and external parties

- have prior experience in logistics, a big plus but not necessary
