Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist (CT) to join a high-performing laboratory team. This role is critical to delivering accurate diagnostic evaluations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care.

The Cytotechnologist will process, screen, and evaluate cytologic specimens, issue diagnostic reports, and collaborate closely with Pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure excellence in laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to hospital and laboratory standards to promote a collaborative and professional work environment.

  • Process and screen cytologic specimens according to established procedures.

  • Screen microscopic slides for diagnostic evaluation.

  • Issue final diagnostic reports on negative GYN cases.

  • Provide preliminary diagnoses on non-GYN and abnormal cases for Pathologist review.

  • Perform and document quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities.

  • Maintain accurate workload documentation.

  • Ensure quality and accuracy of fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens.

  • Maintain correct patient identification throughout specimen processing.

  • Process cytologic specimens in the absence of a Cytoprep Technician when required.

  • Support smooth and efficient laboratory and departmental operations.

  • Follow all safety policies to prevent exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens, utilizing proper PPE and engineering controls.

  • Assist in training and orienting new employees, students, and less experienced staff.

  • Participate in continuing education and self-study to enhance professional skills.

  • Adjust work schedules as needed to meet workload demands or at management direction.

  • Demonstrate professionalism aligned with hospital, departmental, and professional laboratory standards.

  • Perform age-appropriate FNA collection and apply age-specific guidelines across all patient populations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (BS or BA) in Cytotechnology, Biology, or Life Sciences.

  • Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program.

  • Cytotechnologist (CT) (ASCP) certification or equivalent (required).

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a cytology laboratory environment.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and technical skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.

Compensation & Employment Details

Job Type: Full-Time

Bonus Eligible: $12,000

Relocation Assistance: $8,000 (Out-of-State Candidates)
