JOB SUMMARY
Our client, a highly reputable consulting firm committed to high professional standards, seeks to recruit a capable and result-oriented Junior Strategy Consultant to support the delivery of strategy advisory, business transformation and performance improvement engagements.
The role requires a candidate who can support strategy development and execution from diagnosis to implementation planning. The ideal candidate must be able to conduct research, analyse business and market data, support stakeholder engagements, develop strategic options, prepare executive-level reports and contribute to implementation roadmaps, performance frameworks and client presentations.
This is not an entry-level research role. The successful candidate must have practical experience supporting strategy, transformation, business advisory or corporate planning assignments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy Development and Execution
- Support the development of corporate, business unit and functional strategies for clients across sectors.
- Contribute to end-to-end strategy assignments, including diagnosis, strategic options development, execution planning and performance tracking.
- Support the design of implementation roadmaps, strategic initiatives, KPIs, governance structures and execution monitoring frameworks.
- Assist in translating strategic priorities into practical action plans, workstreams, timelines and accountability structures.
- Support the review of clients' operating models, market positioning, growth opportunities and performance improvement needs.
Research, Analysis and Insight Development
- Conduct industry, market, competitor, customer and regulatory research to support client strategy assignments.
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, gaps, risks, opportunities and strategic implications.
- Apply relevant strategy tools such as SWOT, PESTLE, Porter's Five Forces, value chain analysis, business model analysis and benchmarking, while going beyond textbook use of frameworks.
- Analyse financial, operational and commercial performance data to support strategic recommendations.
- Develop clear insights, not just information summaries.
Client Engagement and Workshop Support
- Support stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups and strategic planning workshops.
- Prepare interview guides, workshop materials, presentation decks and session outputs.
- Document client discussions accurately and convert findings into useful strategic insights.
- Support client meetings and presentations under the guidance of senior team members.
Project Delivery and Documentation
- Support consulting engagements from initiation to close-out, including project planning, documentation, workplans and status reporting.
- Monitor assigned workstream timelines, deliverables and follow-up actions.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentation decks, meeting notes and implementation documents.
- Coordinate project logistics and maintain organised project files, data and evidence.
Business Development and Practice Support
- Support proposal writing, expressions of interest, capability statements and bid preparation.
- Conduct research on prospective clients, sectors and business opportunities.
- Contribute to thought pieces, market insights and service offering development for the Strategy unit
- Support the development of reusable tools, templates and knowledge assets for strategy engagements.
Digital Transformation and AI-Enabled Work
- Demonstrate awareness of how digital transformation, data, automation and AI are reshaping business strategy and operating models.
- Use approved AI and digital productivity tools responsibly to support research, analysis, synthesis, document drafting and client problem-solving.
- Support strategy assignments that involve digital transformation, process improvement, automation, customer experience or technology-enabled operating models.
REQUIREMENTS
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Statistics, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Business, Strategy, Finance, Economics, Management, Public Policy or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience is preferred in strategy consulting, management consulting, business advisory, corporate strategy, transformation, performance improvement or a related role.
- Must have supported strategy development and execution assignments from diagnosis through to implementation planning.
- Experience working in a consulting firm, Big 4 advisory practice, reputable strategy boutique, corporate strategy function or transformation office is strongly preferred.
- Experience with top-tier consulting firms such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain or similar strategy-led environments will be an added advantage.
- Experience across sectors such as financial services, public sector, energy, power, telecommunications, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure or development institutions will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong business research and market analysis capability.
- Ability to build structured arguments and convert analysis into clear strategic recommendations.
- Good understanding of strategy development, strategic planning, business model design, operating model review and execution planning.
- Ability to support KPI development, implementation roadmaps and performance tracking frameworks.
- Strong report writing, business writing and presentation development skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, data analytics tools, project management tools or AI productivity tools will be an added advantage.
Professional Certifications
- Relevant certifications in strategy, project management, business analysis, data analytics, digital transformation, finance or management consulting will be an advantage.
