About the job Risk Manager
The role
You will lead the Company's in-house risk management function, reporting directly to the Board of Directors with access to the information needed to perform the role. You will identify, assess, monitor and report the risks arising from our investment advice and RTO activities. The Board defines and approves risk appetite and oversees the effectiveness of the framework.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the risk management framework and registers, assess operational, conduct, outsourcing, ICT, client, counterparty, liquidity, and prudential risks relevant to the Company.
- Set, review and monitor risk indicators and client or counterparty limits where applicable, identify control weaknesses, escalate material issues, and track corrective action.
- Assist in the preparation, reconciliation and timely submission of regulatory reports, returns and notifications to CySEC and other competent authorities.
- Prepare periodic and annual written risk reports for the Board, including recommendations and whether agreed remedial measures have been implemented.
- Review risk policies and controls and advise the Board on the risk appetite it defines and approves.
- Examine financial results, own funds, capital adequacy and relevant exposures, working with Finance, assess business continuity, information systems and ICT third party risks with responsible colleagues.
- Assess how new products, services, distribution changes, outsourcing, cross-border activities, and relevant market trends affect the Company's risk profile.
- Obtain relevant information from departments, coordinate with the AMLCO, Compliance, Investment, Finance and Back Office on risks within their respective remits and provide practical risk guidance and training to staff.
What we are looking for
- One to two years of experience in risk management, audit, compliance or a related control function within a regulated Cyprus investment firm.
- A degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics or a related field.
- A Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Professional Risk Manager (PRM) qualification, or progress towards either, would be an advantage. CySEC Advanced certification is also desirable.
- An understanding of investment firm risks and an interest in CySEC requirements, MiFID II and the investment firm prudential framework.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to turn findings into concise reports and practical actions.
- Sound judgement, attention to detail, confidence to raise concerns and an ability to work with colleagues across functions.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with a collaborative and discreet approach.
