About the Business

Punjabeez Indian Hendra Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced Cook to join our restaurant team in Hendra, Queensland. The successful candidate will have a passion for preparing quality Indian cuisine, strong kitchen skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes in accordance with the restaurant's recipes and quality standards.
• Assist in planning menus and developing dishes as required.
• Prepare ingredients, including cutting vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces, curries, and other food items.
• Monitor food quality, flavour, portion sizes, and presentation.
• Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Monitor ingredient stock levels and assist with ordering supplies when required.
• Minimise food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and service of meals.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certificate III in commercial cookery qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
• Previous 12 months of experience working as a Cook in a restaurant, preferably with Indian cuisine.
• Knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, curries, and food preparation methods.
• Ability to prepare and cook meals consistently to a high standard.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and safe food handling practices.
• Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
