THE JOB

Reporting to the Public Affairs and Marketing Manager, the Public Affairs and Marketing Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To assist in the implementation of plan and strategies related to Branding, Media Communications, Corporate Events and Marketing aiming to arouse the public/media attention to elite sports in Hong Kong, stimulate interest of sports talent to become elite athletes and pledge support of their stakeholders, the mass media and the community as a whole and enhance Hong Kong's status in the international arena;
  • To enhance the HKSI's positive public image and generate higher public awareness by developing promotional displays and collaterals as well as corporate giveaways;
  • To plan, organise and initiate quality promotional events to enhance the image of the organisation, its professional staff, coaches and athletes;
  • To assist in handling public enquiries related to promotion and collaboration of elite athletes in Hong Kong;
  • To establish and maintain good relationships with the mass media, develop and convey newsworthy information on time to the media through press conferences, media announcements or special interviews;
  • To handle all media enquiries and prepare PR materials, such as writing media release and features;
  • To liaise and collaborate with the public/private sectors, sporting authorities, National Sports Associations, overseas organisations and other organisations in the area of public affairs and marketing; and
  • To handle ad-hoc projects or perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree / diploma in marketing, communication or a relevant discipline;
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant working experience;
  • Sense of visual arts for development of photos, videos, displays and publications, and knowledge in copyrights and privacy;
  • Prior project / event management experience preferable;
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese. Ability to speak Putonghua is a definite advantage;
  • Pleasant personality with good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Meticulous and able to work independently;
  • Proficient in MS-Word, Excel and Chinese Word Processing, knowledge in Photoshop is advantageous; and
  • Awareness / knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
