About the job VP, Product Development & Sourcing
· Overall responsibility for setting the vision and executing the global sourcing strategy.
· Constantly monitor market conditions and develop relationships with potential factory partners to ensure company can respond to changes in price conditions, trade regulations, commodity and labour rates, and any other global pressures that may impact the competitiveness or continuity of company's supply chain.
· Proactively research new factories and/or regions to drive competitive pricing while ensuring that network capacity, quality levels, and production lead times meet company's needs. Develop risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of supply.
· Establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with key business partners. Lead strategic meetings and negotiations with key suppliers, regularly evaluate factory performance against vendor scorecards, and implement effective strategies to drive sustained quality levels, on-time shipments, and cost competitiveness.
· Partner closely with other Departments to understand company’s product development priorities, quality expectations, and design goals vis a vis company’s factory matrix.
· Lead the team of product managers and engineers to regularly strike an appropriate balance between product cost, speed to market, quality, and design to bring new products to market. Lead team to anticipate, monitor, and resolve production issues to ensure quality merchandise and timely deliveries.
· Develop and implement global product development and sourcing principles, standards, and processes that can be used consistently across multiple offices and geographies.
· Manage the China Operations team to maintain high levels of on-time deliveries, compliance with company shipping requirements, and continuous improvements in efficiency and cost.
· To maintain consistent high performance and team morale. Mentor and coach staff and successfully recruit and retain new team members in alternate regions as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent, MBA is a plus.
· 8+ years of progressive global sourcing or supply chain experience required.
· Prior experience managing/coaching direct reports, assessing talent, and building teams. Strong ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and coach others to maintain a positive work culture and effectively manage staff across multiple sites.
· Deep knowledge of the global manufacturer competitive landscape in Greater China, Southeast Asia, and North America.
· Familiarity with US testing and regulatory requirements.
· Excellent communication/influence skills and ability to forge effective cross-functional and cross-cultural relationships. High degree of written and spoken fluency in English, Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
