Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Tradelane Manager to join our small but dynamic freight forwarding company based in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will bring an extensive market understanding and a robust customer base, with exceptional expertise in the China to Hong Kong trade across all modes of transportation.
Responsibilities
- Market Analysis and Strategy Development: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the China to Hong Kong trade lane. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance our market position, predominantly focusing on import services from China to Hong Kong.
- Customer Relationship Management: Leverage existing customer relationships and establish new ones to expand our client base. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery. The candidate will also be expected to cross-sell all freight forwarding initiatives including trucking, warehousing, 3PL, and local distribution.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the logistics and operational aspects of freight forwarding for the China to Hong Kong route, not restricted to cross-border but encompassing all modes of transport from the Greater China Region into Hong Kong. Ensure seamless coordination across different transportation modes, including air, sea, and land.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track and analyze trade lane performance metrics. Prepare regular reports and provide insights to optimize operations and improve profitability.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the trade lane.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, operations, and customer service, to ensure cohesive and efficient service delivery. The candidate will also report to the General Manager and will work closely with the Sales Manager and General Manager to support global freight forwarding opportunities where they arise.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in import freight forwarding, with a focus on the China to Hong Kong trade lane. Exceptional market knowledge and excellent connections to customers and service providers are essential.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the logistics market, industry trends, and regulatory environment in China and Hong Kong.
- Customer Base: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Communication Skills: Fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua, with a good proficiency in English.
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
