About Our Client & The Engagement

Our client is a premier AI consulting group that builds serious, production-grade systems for companies ready to operationalize artificial intelligence across their business. They eschew gimmicks and prototypes, focusing instead on delivering custom AI that integrates seamlessly into operations to drive measurable results. Their work automates high-effort workflows, launches AI-powered product lines, and transforms internal data into structured, usable assets—ranging from custom-trained models to intelligent agents that reason across complex business logic. Their diverse clientele spans education, financial services, engineering, healthcare, and defense.

The Project

In this role, you will be deeply embedded in a high-impact, multi-component platform build for a major client in the education sector. This engagement involves architecting a sophisticated, cloud-native system designed to ingest school and rostering data into a single canonical record. The platform will govern data access down to the row and field level, front it behind a unified access layer, build complex audiences, and deliver multi-channel communications to families at scale.

The system is being delivered as five interlocking, highly interdependent components—including a data integration platform, a capability-based access-control service, a unified API layer, an audience service, and an event-driven communications platform. As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will have end-to-end ownership over these critical components in a fast-paced, highly collaborative ecosystem.

What You Will Own

  • Turn ambiguous, architecture-heavy scope into sequenced roadmaps with clear milestones and acceptance criteria.
  • Govern scope and change as designs evolve through discovery, validation, and performance testing.
  • Hold the contracts and sequencing across deeply interdependent component teams.
  • Run client sign-off on schemas, policy models, SLAs, and migration cutover gates.
  • Define and track delivery metrics: success and lag rates, latency, dead-letters, and reconciliation tolerances.
  • Own phased rollout and migration per client: shadow mode, dual-run, cutover, and rollback.
  • Treat compliance as product requirements: FERPA, COPPA, GDPR/CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, SOC 2, and data residency.
  • Partner with the client's product and engineering teams on PRDs, governance rules, and vendor selection.

Responsibilities

  • Own one or more components end to end: scope, roadmap, sequencing, risk, and client sign-off.
  • Author each component's scope and architecture narrative, and shepherd changes through client review.
  • Keep the interfaces between components coherent so dependent teams stay unblocked.
  • Set and hold acceptance criteria and quality gates for production-grade delivery.
  • Drive the migration and rollout playbook as reusable tooling: discovery, mapping, dual-run, cutover, rollback.
  • Translate between client business rules and engineering trade-offs: delivery semantics, replay, caching, latency.
  • Track delivery health against SLAs and surface risk early with clear recommendations.
  • Operate as a peer to senior engineering and client leadership in design reviews and sign-offs.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years in product management, several as a senior, principal, or staff technical PM on platform or data-infrastructure products.
  • Track record shipping complex backend or platform products to production at scale (data, API, identity/auth, segmentation, or messaging).
  • Strong technical fluency: data modeling, event-driven systems, API contracts, authorization models, and cloud infra (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Proven ownership of scope and change management on ambiguous, evolving engagements.
  • Cross-team dependency and interface management across interlocking services. Strong stakeholder management; able to run and close schema, policy, and SLA sign-offs.
  • Large-scale data migration and phased rollout: dual-run, shadow mode, cutover, rollback.
  • Credible with engineers on distributed-systems trade-offs: idempotency, delivery semantics, replay, backpressure, latency.

Bonus

  • EdTech, SIS, or student-rostering experience.
  • Depth in data integration, access control (ABAC/RBAC), API gateways, segmentation, or messaging platforms.
  • Hands-on with a GCP-native stack (Dataflow/Beam, Spanner, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Terraform).
  • Senior consulting or client-services delivery experience.
  • An engineering or technical background earlier in your career.
  • Built reusable migration or onboarding tooling that runs per client.
