The Opportunity
HireNow Staffing is representing a large, respected hospital system seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead its Emergency Department. This role carries significant clinical and operational responsibility and is critical to maintaining excellence in emergency and trauma care delivery.
The Nurse Manager is a visible leader on the unit—setting expectations, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture grounded in patient safety, accountability, and teamwork. This position plays a key role in advancing patient experience initiatives, supporting staff engagement, and ensuring the Emergency Department operates effectively around the clock.
This opportunity is best suited for an Emergency Department leader who combines strong clinical judgment with operational discipline and a people-first leadership style.
Key Responsibilities
Candidates will be considered for interview based on demonstrated experience performing the following responsibilities at a high level:

Lead and support the delivery of safe, high-quality, age-appropriate emergency and trauma care, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and National Patient Safety Goals

Serve as a clinical and professional role model for patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team

Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and team-oriented environment through clear communication and visible leadership

Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and development of Emergency Department nursing staff

Ensure staff competencies, certifications, licensure, and regulatory requirements are consistently met

Direct, assign, review, and evaluate work performance; manage corrective action processes when necessary

Monitor and manage departmental operating expenses, including staffing levels, productivity, overtime, and premium pay, in alignment with budgetary goals

Champion patient experience, relationship-centered care, and evidence-based practice
-
Ensure payroll accuracy and effective staffing coverage to meet fluctuating operational demands

Act as a responsible steward of organizational resources while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Only candidates with demonstrated Emergency Department leadership experience will be considered.
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
These qualifications are mandatory. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered for interview.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a CCNE-accredited School of Nursing

5–7 years of nursing experience, including at least 5 years in the Emergency Department with progressive leadership responsibility

Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing

Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)

Demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-acuity emergency care environments

Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond effectively to emergent situations
Preferred Qualifications (Strong Differentiators)
