Position Overview
HireNow Staffing is conducting a confidential search for a nationally respected law firm seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Conflicts Research Analyst to join its Cleveland office. This role is integral to protecting the firm's ethical integrity by conducting thorough conflict-of-interest reviews for new clients, new matters, and lateral attorney hires.
The Conflicts Research Analyst will collaborate directly with Conflicts Counsel, General Counsel, attorneys, and administrative leadership to ensure compliance with professional responsibility standards while supporting efficient matter intake and client onboarding.
This position requires proven law firm conflicts experience and a stable employment history. Candidates with frequent short-term roles will not be considered.
Core Responsibilities
Conflict Research & Analysis

Develop strategic search methodologies within the firms' conflicts database (Intapp or comparable platform).

Conduct detailed conflicts searches for new matters, client intake requests, and lateral attorney onboarding.

Analyze search results and prepare well-structured summaries outlining potential ethical risks and recommended actions.

Identify related entities, corporate affiliations, subsidiaries, and beneficial ownership structures using trusted research tools.
Ethics & Risk Mitigation Support

Draft engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical screen memorandums for internal review.

Support the implementation and documentation of ethical walls where required.

Partner with Conflicts Counsel and firm leadership to assess complex or multi-jurisdictional conflict issues.

Apply applicable Rules of Professional Conduct in real-time conflict evaluation scenarios.
Database Integrity & Process Support

Maintain accuracy of client and matter records within the conflicts system.

Assist in database reconciliation and cleanup projects.

Support continuous improvement of intake procedures and documentation standards.
Attorney & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Provide responsive and thoughtful guidance to attorneys and legal staff regarding conflict inquiries.

Communicate findings clearly and professionally.

Support urgent requests when necessary to meet firm deadlines.
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:

Minimum 1 year of conflicts experience in a mid-to-large law firm environment.

Bachelor's degree or a clearly equivalent combination of education and law firm experience.

Working knowledge of legal ethics and professional responsibility rules.

Direct experience conducting conflict checks and performing corporate research.

Strong analytical reasoning and written communication skills.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume workflows.

Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Ability to work onsite in Cleveland on a hybrid schedule.

Demonstrated job stability with consistent tenure in prior roles.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Emphasized)
Candidates with the following experience will be prioritized:

Hands-on experience using Intapp or similar conflicts management software.

Experience drafting engagement letters, waivers, or ethical screen documentation.

Exposure to lateral attorney conflict reviews.
-
Experience supporting large-scale client/matter database cleanup initiatives.

Strong legal writing or analytical reporting background.

Experience in Am Law or nationally recognized firm environments.
