HireNow Staffing is partnering with a thriving multi-location restaurant brand headquartered in the Greater San Diego area to find a passionate Director of Human Resources. This isn't a desk-bound HR job it's a highly visible leadership role that touches every part of the employee experience across hundreds of team members and multiple sites.

The Opportunity
You'll take full ownership of the HR function for a growing organization with over 600 employees across California. From shaping policy to mentoring local leaders, you'll drive consistency, compliance, and care across every unit.
This role blends strategy and service, compliance and culture and it requires someone who leads with clarity, empathy, and execution.
Your Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the entire HR department: including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, policy development, and compliance
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and operations teams across all restaurant units
  • Ensure consistent HR practices across locations balancing local management autonomy with companywide compliance and culture standards
  • Handle complex employee relations issues, including investigations, mediations, and corrective actions
  • Oversee workers comp claims, and provide support on legal/litigation-related HR matters
  • Stay ahead of California labor laws and federal employment regulations; ensure all practices are audit-ready
  • Support employee development initiatives and build a strong feedback and performance culture
  • Coach and guide multi-unit managers on people leadership best practices
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree required (Masters or HR-related certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP a plus)
  • 5+ years in a senior-level or Director role overseeing HR across multi-unit restaurant or hospitality locations
  • Track record of leading teams in fast-paced, customer-facing environments
  • Extensive knowledge of California employment law, HR operations, and compliance
  • Experience with workers compensation cases and HR-related litigation support
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills you know how to resolve issues before they become roadblocks
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required
