HireNow Staffing is partnering with a nationally respected labor and employment law firm to recruit a seasoned Special Counsel to join their fully remote, Virtual Office. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced employment attorney to lead high-level litigation work while enjoying the flexibility of a remote-first legal practice without the pressure of business development or non-billable hour quotas.
Position Overview:
This role focuses on defending employers ranging from large corporations to insured clients under EPLI (Employment Practices Liability Insurance) in single-plaintiff employment litigation, attorney demand letters, and administrative charges. The Special Counsel will take full ownership of litigation matters, including strategy, drafting, discovery, hearings, mediations, and trials.
You'll work in collaboration with firm partners, supported by experienced paralegals and a shared secretarial team. While primarily remote, some local travel for appearances may occasionally be required.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead case strategy and execution for employment litigation and agency matters

Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and client advisories

Conduct depositions, participate in hearings, mediations, and trials

Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff

Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex matters, including PAGA and class actions

Maintain high standards of client service, responsiveness, and litigation efficiency
Qualifications:

JD from an ABA-accredited law school

Minimum of 7+ years of experience practicing employment law and litigation

Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Proven ability to manage litigation independently from start to finish

Excellent written, analytical, and oral advocacy skills

Comfortable working autonomously in a virtual environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior law firm experience

Familiarity with EPLI-covered matters

California Bar admission is highly desirable
