We're working with a highly respected engineering and consulting firm that is actively seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager with extensive stormwater, flood mitigation, and drainage design experience not highways. You'll be managing teams and projects that directly impact local communities, not just traffic flow.
What You'll Focus On
  • Lead and mentor teams of engineers and technical staff to deliver stormwater and watershed improvement projects on time and within budget.
  • Design and oversee construction of storm drain systems, culverts, bridges, and urban stream improvements.
  • Use your modeling expertise (1D/2D) to analyze floodplain scenarios and recommend resilient mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a key client-facing leader, overseeing project planning, deliverables, and team coordination.
  • Prepare technical documents, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permitting packages.
  • Collaborate with internal departments on proposals, budgeting, and invoicing.
  • Participate in project update meetings and assist with strategic growth initiatives.
You'll Need to Bring
  • Texas PE license (active)
  • At least 12 years of experience in drainage design, stormwater infrastructure, or watershed management (10 years with a master's degree)
  • Proven record working with municipal clients on water-related infrastructure not highway or DOT projects
  • Proficiency with:
    • MicroStation, OpenRoads Drainage, GEOPAK Drainage
    • Storm and Sanitary analysis software
  • Knowledge of floodplain regulations, stormwater best practices, and FEMA mapping processes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (citizen or permanent resident)
Bonus Points For
  • Local project work with agencies like the City of Austin, Travis County, San Antonio, Bexar County, or SAWS
  • FEMA or floodplain management project experience
  • TxDOT pre-certifications (but again this is not a transportation drainage position)
